Day Twenty-One...

I am aware that I did not post an entry yesterday.  Not really wanting to discuss it either, since I'm perfectly content with where I am at on this personal challenge.

Today I'm going to post a photo of a wedding I photographed yesterday at Bower's Harbor Inn.  It's a image that struck me as I was briefly reviewing what I had captured during the day.

Congratulations, Jeannie and John!  Thanks for having me along on such a special day in your lives together.

And that is all for today.  I am off to another wedding!

Day Nineteen...

Have I mentioned yet that I am obsessed with trash?  Well, I am.  I think it incredibly interesting what people do/don't consider garbage and why.  I also am intrigued with what may be done with an object instead of throw it in the garbage, or what may be pulled out of garbage and be considered a treasure.  I have a feeling there will be many more blog posts on this subject...  Tonight I'm going to share with you some jewelry that is made partly with what was thrown out as trash but was rescued and is now part of a piece of jewelry.

If you attended the
Safe Passage 10-year celebration and fundraiser you probably saw this jewelry with your very own eyes.  I purchased a necklace which is made of rolled magazine beads strung together by fishing line and a small clasp.

Okay, you still can get in on this.  I'm on the inside track so if you like what you see, email me and we'll hook you up with some incredible jewelry, handmade by women in Guatemala who benefit directly from
Safe Passage.

By the way, what a fantastic time I had at the fiesta! I ended up with three beautiful pairs of earrings and a bracelet because I just couldn't choose between the pieces. Bravo on the awesome effort made by the leaders, helpers and the helped!

Day Eighteen...

I'm back devoted and giving one last shout-out for a very important benefit tomorrow evening.  It's also a celebration of 10 years since the founding of Safe Passage, one of the non-profit organizations I heart most.

Anyway, if you are floundering on your plans for tomorrow evening, Friday, June 26th, why don't you consider joining us to celebrate and hear an excellent live concert featuring
Marta Gomez.

Click
HERE for more details.  If you are not in Traverse City and cannot make the benefit still click there to learn details of other shows or how you may participate in general, too.

Day Seventeen...

A few weeks ago while I was in Chicago I had a session with Nate, one of my most active two-year-olds ever.  In fact, he may even win the prize as most active one-year-old, too, since he didn't stop when I photographed him last fall, either.  This is what I love about Nate, though, that he has no time to stop.  Life is too exciting for him to sit idle.

I've found that reasoning and trying to mold a toddler into standing still is pretty much not worth an ounce of effort.  That's why we go with the flow and have as much fun as possible.  So we did!  Thanks Chip and Norma for going with the flow, too, and for bringing plenty of extra clothes.  They sure came in handy after we found the puddles!

Day Sixteen...

Okay, so I had an issue last week.  I pulled a muscle in my arm and was seriously freaked out about the wedding I had to photograph.  So Becca shows up on Saturday AM as my Mom is ironing my shirts (yep, I'm spoiled!) and I am looking over my pile of equipment to load into my car.  Had this pulled muscle occurred any later in the week I would have been more challenged for sure.  However, a terrific night of sleep on Friday made a huge difference and I was able to pull it all off with some serious hauling assistance from my assistant, Becca.  At one point I looked over at her and I don't know if she could have fit another strap over her head but if she could have I think she would have!  Thank you, Becca!

Meghan and Nick (plus your crew), you were great, too.  Super easy-going yet ready for adventure!  One photo below to tease you.  Happy Honeymoon!
