Day Four...

Tonight I am going to share a few photos of local billboards/advertising that so happen to contain my photograph.  Slowly I am trying to pull off when I see them and take a quick snapshot for my scrapbook.  Just kidding (about the scrapbook) but maybe you could call this post on my website just that.

Finally, I'm too exhausted to look up all the photos I want to share tonight so I may cheat and add to this post later.  Sigh, I know I'm a rebel!

Day Three...

I went kayaking a couple weeks ago for a Grand Traverse Woman assignment.  Mary and Susan of Paddle Away, LLC were kind enough to take me and Leann (the writer) on a sunset tour.  We launched on a calm evening off of Bower's Harbor public launch.  We had spent all day wondering if the weather would hold up.  It did.

I wish every night I had the opportunity such as this.  Awesome kayaks, great guides, amazing scenery and calm water so I didn't have to worry about my camera gear.  I actually threw it in the boat, sans waterproof stuff sacks.  What can I say, I like easy access to my gear and living on the edge!

While paddling, Mary paused to prop her feet up on her kayak and gaze upward at the sky.  The clouds, she exclaimed, were incredible on this particular evening.  I agreed.  Which is why I'm not even going to post a photo of water or kayak details.  I need the clouds tonight to inspire me.

It's been a long day and these clouds bring me back to an evening when I remembered why I became a photographer.  No, I didn't become a photographer because of clouds.  But I became a photographer because I wanted to capture those moments that overtake us and do it well enough so that one is overtaken again through my photograph/s.  It's as simple as that.

Day Two...

Well, it is day two of my challenge and I am just barely making my deadline.  Not a surprise, as I am known to push deadlines.

Today I am going to share with you an engagement session I photographed last December.  Kristin and Jason are going to be married in July at
Bower's Harbor Inn.  They are one of the mellowest and fun-to-be-around couples I have ever worked with and I'm not embellishing this either.  Kristin didn't even question me or become nervous when I asked if I could set her engagement ring in the snow.  Thanks for trusting me, Kristin, because the photo rocks! (pun intended)

Have I mentioned yet that Kristin is my younger cousin?  Well, she is!

Anyway, here she is all grown up and engaged to Jason, whom is truly her soul mate and one super-cool guy.  I am so thrilled that this couple, whom live in California, chose to be married in Traverse City.  I am also thrilled that they chose me to photograph their wedding.  Looking very forward to it, Kristin and Jason.  See you soon!    ~ Beth

The Challenge

I once read somewhere that it takes thirty days to make/break a habit.  Today I challenged myself to a few things, as I do each Monday.  One was to add an entry on our new site every day for thirty days.  It's 11:30PM and I have yet to do it as well as the other challenges on my list.  The usual Monday night routine.  However, suddenly I am inspired and ready to take on the blogging challenge.  Will I succeed and if I do will I have formed a habit?  Tune in daily to check in.  I may just try to break a habit, too!

Day One...

Six years ago I moved back to the Midwest shortly after my sister gave birth to my nephew, Colin.  Last Wednesday I attended his Kindergarten graduation and followed him around, as usual, paparazzi-style because I am so proud of him.

p.s.  To Colin:  I love you!
