Day Nineteen...
Have I mentioned yet that I am obsessed with trash? Well, I am. I think it incredibly interesting what people do/don't consider garbage and why. I also am intrigued with what may be done with an object instead of throw it in the garbage, or what may be pulled out of garbage and be considered a treasure. I have a feeling there will be many more blog posts on this subject... Tonight I'm going to share with you some jewelry that is made partly with what was thrown out as trash but was rescued and is now part of a piece of jewelry.
If you attended the Safe Passage 10-year celebration and fundraiser you probably saw this jewelry with your very own eyes. I purchased a necklace which is made of rolled magazine beads strung together by fishing line and a small clasp.
Okay, you still can get in on this. I'm on the inside track so if you like what you see, email me and we'll hook you up with some incredible jewelry, handmade by women in Guatemala who benefit directly from Safe Passage.

Day Eighteen...
I'm back devoted and giving one last shout-out for a very important benefit tomorrow evening. It's also a celebration of 10 years since the founding of Safe Passage, one of the non-profit organizations I heart most.
Anyway, if you are floundering on your plans for tomorrow evening, Friday, June 26th, why don't you consider joining us to celebrate and hear an excellent live concert featuring Marta Gomez.
Click HERE for more details. If you are not in Traverse City and cannot make the benefit still click there to learn details of other shows or how you may participate in general, too.

Day Fifteen...
If you have just begun to read the posts on this site you may want to back up a few days. Here's hoping you do want to learn more after viewing the following photos!
Below are some of my favorite photographs I've taken while working with Safe Passage. They also encompass the many ways that this organization aides these children and families. There are so many I apologize if I do not touch upon everything. Which is my point. Ten years later, they need our support more than ever.

Hi, Beth! I finally had the chance to give your photo blog the attention it deserves, and when I saw these incredible Safe Passage photos, I HAD to post. These are awesome, much like the rest of your work!! Let's talk soon -- it was great to meet you and Jenelle at the Marta Gomez celebration the other week. :)

Day Thirteen...
Yes, I am quite aware that I did not post yesterday. I feel asleep at 9PM and slept for twelve hours. I'm not even going to apologize that my body needed rest. I'm already pretty proud of myself for making it this far so I'm not stopping because I missed one day.
The question really is: Have your purchased tickets for our fundraiser this coming Friday, or if not have you looked at other ways in which to help support Safe Passage?

Day Eleven...
If you're just tuning in, and it's Day Eleven of my challenge, if you don't go all the way back to Day One at least go back a few postings. I'm in the middle of explaining Safe Passage, a non-profit organization that is very much important to me.
Today I am going to give a glimpse of sights similar to what Hanley Denning saw when she first went into inner city Guatemala ten years ago. It isn't easy to digest, but it is very necessary in telling the entire story. I promise, tomorrow will be easier.

By the way, what a fantastic time I had at the fiesta! I ended up with three beautiful pairs of earrings and a bracelet because I just couldn't choose between the pieces. Bravo on the awesome effort made by the leaders, helpers and the helped!
